Waiting for the Moon

Waiting for the Moon.jpg

Uluru, previously known as Ayers Rock, is a 348-meter high red rock monolith in Central Australia, in Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park.

After the miracle of Uluru
turning to fire with the setting sun,
silence stretches into stillness.

In the diamante dark
the insistent southerly
holds its breath

until a faint blush
begins to glow
in the curve atop the Rock.

The moon in fullness spills an ardent light,
casting long shadows
across time.
